For the past 34 years there has always be a Windfest - Family Festival. For this year the festival will be held on April 16 to April 18, 2009 at the Pavillion and Festival Area by Community Center, 1605 A Hwy 181, Portland, TX 78374. This festival is sponsored and hosted by the Portland Chamber of Commerce, the City of Portland and the Gregory-Portland Independent School District.

The Windfest is a Family Festival that will feature a variety of unique crafts and arts for sale. There will be activities that children will enjoy like the 25 carnival rides, Kid fish, they will have their own corner where there will be free games. The adults will have their own sets of activities to enjoy from like cook”offs and tournaments like the horseshoe tournament, washer tournament and 3 on 3 basketball tournaments.

The Windfest- Family Festival will officially open on April 16 from 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.; April 17 from 11:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. and on April 18 from 12:00 noon and official closes at 7:00 P.M. The vendors will be allowed to put up their booths on April 17 from 10:00 A.M. until the festival will open.

Based on last years attendance of 20,000 the promoters will be expecting about the same amount of visitors for this year. A $1.00 fee for parking at the parking lot but parking at the streets will be free. The public will be allowed to us the 10 portable outdoor restroom units found around the festival area.

There are about 30 craft and arts vendors that the promoters will be looking for this year. For interested crafts and arts vendors there will be a space fee of $100.00 for a 10×10 space and $25.00 for the electric. Vendors will need to bring their own sets of extension cords.
