Millions of eager Twilight fans are impatiently awaiting the release of the New Moon DVD. Though possibly subject to change at any time, the New Moon DVD has a tentative release date of late March, 2010. Twi-hard fans flocked to movie theaters by the thousands when New Moon hit the theaters. New Moon is a sequel to the popular movie Twilight, which was also a big box office smash and it is anticipated that the New Moon DVD will sell extremely well when it is released.

The movie producers reluctantly estimate their DVD release dates early in the game because they all keep hoping that the film will remain in theaters for a long time. The good news for the fans is that the New Moon movie is expected to stay in theaters right through the holidays and possibly even on into January. Since Twilight, which was the series first movie, was sent to theaters on November 21, 2008, with the Twilight DVD being released March 20, 2009, the New Moon movie will likely follow that pattern as well. It was released to movie theaters on November 20, 2009, and March 2010 is likely the date when the DVD hits the market, spacing the two movies almost exactly one year apart.

Those fans eagerly following the lead female character Bella Swan, or anyone who stakes a claim to be on “Team Edward or “Team Jacob” should be delighted to find that the end of the New Moon DVD includes personal commentary from some of the main actors such as Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Robert Pattinson as well as Director Chris Weitz’s commentary. It will also have the behind the scenes data and information about the making of the DVD as well. Weitz revealed in deleted scenes, probably around ten minutes worth of them, will be available at the end of the New Moon DVD. He also indicated that the DVD will have deleted scenes actually placed back into the scene from which they were deleted. In this way, they can show them in context rather than simply showing deleted scenes at the end. An extra ten minutes of brand new information, particularly the commentary from the actors for the New Moon DVD is exciting news for Twilight followers.

The New Moon DVD and the movie were based upon a series of books written by author Stephanie Meyer. These books outline the lives, loves, and adventures of Bella Swan and her love interest, vampire Edward Cullen. The New Moon story covers the birthday party where Bella accidentally sheds blood through a minor accident and is attacked by a vampire. For the sake of her safety, her beloved Edward Cullen and his family leave the area, and Bella eventually finds comfort with her old friend, Jacob who, it turns out, is a werewolf. New Moon depicts Bella’s struggles concerning her choice of clinging to the past and to her love for Edward, or moving on with her life and paving a new way with new friends and a new love.

Twilight saga enthusiasts can look forward to the New Moon DVD being released sometime in March 2010, but meantime, they can anticipate seeing around ten extra minutes of never before seen footage, 20 minutes of commentary and a ‘how did they do that’ section that will surely be a lovely surprise for all of the fans….
