Recently, I have had the pleasure of watching my nieces and nephews for overnight stays. Since I do not want to get in trouble with their parents, I limit their TV watching in favor or movies which have already been pre-screened. This is also a good way for me to get a well-earned break. Below are my 7 favorites with a brief explanation.

1) Monsters Inc. ” The stories play to both adults and children in this beautifully animated movie. The monsters turn out to be the good guys too!

2) Toy Story ” Its a great story for all kids, especially the older child who has to deal with someone new coming into his world and possibly usurping the attention he used to get.

3) Finding Nemo ” Is a story about how children need to be left to make their own decisions as part of growing up. The characters and story are well developed, and the animation is beautiful.

4) The Little Mermaid ” The soundtrack to this movie is fantastic. I love Sebastian.

5) Babe ” A pig who thinks he is a dog. This is the classic story of the underachiever moved to work towards greatness. This movie has something to appeal to all age groups.

6) Big ” What child does not dream of being big?

7) The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe ” This is tale of true courage and character. Watch the movie carefully, can you believe the lion is completely computer generated? Wow!
