The Taking Of Pelham 1 2 3 movie has it all. Starring Hollywoods most charismatic actors, John Travolta and Denzel Washington, it is by far 2009s most exciting thriller movie. Director Tony Scott is not to be forgotten for the contribution he has made behind the scenes. He does a fantastic job of adding his personal touch to this remake of the 1974 thriller.

The movie starts with Denzel Washington, who plays Walter, working in New Yorks subway control center. He notices that the Pelham 1 2 3 train has come to a halt for no particular reason and tries to communicate with the train driver using a radio.

On the other hand, John Travolta who plays the role of Ryder has taken the train and its passengers as hostage and is demanding $10 million from the mayor. Ryder threatens the mayor that if he doesnt receive the sum in an hour, he will start killing one hostage every minute.

Spell-binding performances by both mega stars keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Washingtons understated portrayal of the dispatcher is the perfect foil to Travoltas exquisite depiction of a brutal yet intelligent crook.

John Turturro who plays a short cop role as a negotiator also manages to set the screen on fire with his intense acting. Unfortunately though his is a minute role cut short by the terrorists unwillingness to negotiate with anyone but Walter.

Throughout the movie the action scenes are intense and the movie grips you as you keep wondering if one of the hostages is going to get killed or not. The movie also manages to balance itself well walking the line without going over the top and maintaining a realistic approach.
