The Little Mermaid movie was one of the best animation movies in the in the late’80’s and was a worldwide hit that managed to revive Walt Disney which had slumped after a couple of mediocre animation movies in the early’80’s. The movie is a story of a little princess living in an underwater kingdom and is based on a fairy tale book that was written by Hans Christian Anderson.

The movie is based in the fantasy land of an underwater kingdom that is habituated by Merpeople who are ruled by the powerful King Trident. There are a number of princesses in the underwater kingdom but there is one that stands out for her beauty and her keen interest in humans, her name is Princess Ariel. Ariel and her best friend, a fish named Flounder, are always wondering and trying to find out more about humans and even think about things like how it would be to be a human.

The problem was that Merpeople and humans were not allowed to make contact according to King Triton’s law but the ever curious princess Ariel and her friend Flounder frequently met with the apparently wise Scuttle the seagull who told them he knew all about humans but only gave them hilariously incorrect information. During her course of appearances on the surface she once spots Prince Eric and falls deeply in love with him. Right then a terrible storm breaks the prince’s boat and he is left to drown when Ariel saves his life and takes him ashore.

Prince Eric doesn’t see his savior but remembers a beautiful girl’s voice and vows to meet her. Meanwhile the underwater King Trident learns all about this and in his fury destroys all the human artifacts Ariel and her friend had ever collected. The king’s attitude and the longing for her prince charming leaves Ariel devastated and she is willing to do anything to be with the prince. That’s when Ursula the sea witch let’s Ariel know that she can help Ariel in ways that will make her happy.

Ursula promises Ariel that she will give her legs and make her a girl for a period of three days within which she has to get Prince Eric’s kiss. Ariel is at first really excited as the task seems to be simple but then Ursula shows her cunningness by taking Ariel’s voice away.

Ariel’s friends take her to the surface where soon afterwards she is found by the prince who has been looking for her. But as soon as the prince realizes that she cannot talk he knows he was wrong. Meanwhile, a beautiful woman appears and starts singing in Ariel’s voice melodic voice and lures the prince. Will the prince marry her or the true princess?
