The people of Missouri are well known for being skeptics; they are not one to be swayed by eloquent words. No matter how much one tries to convince them that something is worthwhile, one must first show them if it is indeed worth it. For this reason, the state’s motto has become “Show Me”.

The people of Missouri are more in tune with the tangible things, rather than the ideal. I’m not saying Missourians aren’t spiritual or religious; them being skeptical applies only to the everyday matters, not the spiritual. So, naturally, they involve themselves in crafted works of different levels.

If you’re from Missouri, and you have a taste for crafts making, then I wholly encourage you to do so. Strive for the intricacy of your woven or carved object to be pleasing to the eye of the people who will see it. But more importantly, the craft should be exquisite to the touch of skin; only then will it truly take advantage of Missouri’s tie to the tangible.

Once you have enough skill doing your craft, it is now high time to try and show your stuff to the world at large. Reveal what you can do, not just to your family and friends, but to the whole State. Remember, as the State motto goes, “Show me!”

What do you do, then? At the many craft fairs and festivals held annually around Missouri, your crafts would be welcome. It’s just a matter of a simple online search to find the schedules of these events so you know when and where to go. It is also advisable to contact the organizers beforehand, to know about booth packages and prices. You’ll earn a bit, if you’re lucky, but even if you don’t, you’ll receive priceless critique and praise for your pieces.
