New DVD: The Tale Of Despereaux

The Tale Of Despereaux takes place in the Kingdom of Dor and is based off of a movie with the same title. A mouse comes in to help after the king is left heartbroken and the town without their favorite soup making everyone gloomy.

Despereaux is a brave mouse who was banished for to a dungeon because he talked to a human. Some of the other characters include a rat who loves soup, a princess whose father is really sad and a servant who wants to become a princess. Despereaux makes friends with Pea, the princess and he learns to read. He is rescued by the rat and then Pea is captured. Despereaux is the only one that can save her.

This is a great story of bravery and it is also simple enough for children to understand and love. It is full of values and even adults seem to love the little mouse and his story line. It isn’t very violent and is full of amazing music that compliments the story.

The movie also has many well-known actors protraying the roles. Sigourney Weaver acts as narrator and Matthew Broderick plays Despereaux the brave mouse. The rat Roscuro is voiced by Dustin Hoffman. Emma Watson plays the Princess Pea. Miggery Sow is played by Tracey Ullman.

The Tale of Despereaux makes a great movie to purchase with plenty of value for young children. Chances are your children will be asking to watch the movie a few times. The movie teaches strong values and has a simple moral tale, making it easy to follow and take lessons from for young ones. The Tale of Despereaux is an exciting adventure and a classic story that you won’t regret seeing.
