Many die-hard Harry Potter fans were fervently waiting for the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie to hit their nearest theatres. Many just wanted to get engrossed in JK Rowlings fantasy land, some just wanted to see their favorite characters again and a lot of them wanted to see what the new director had in store for them. David Yates the new director for this movie, though inexperienced, did a fabulous job in bringing out the true essence of this fabulous fantasy novel by JK Rowling.

The movie revolves around three main events; number one is the rumored return of Lord Voldemort, number two is the O.W.L examination for Harry and his friends as they decide on what careers they want to choose and number three is the interference of the Ministry of Magic in Hogwarts day to day routines. The movie begins with a number of dementors attacking Harry and his cousin Dudley near his aunts house. Harry uses his patronus charm to get rid of the dementors but that lands him in a soup with the Ministry of Magic. Meanwhile, Dumbledore sees the inefficiency of the Ministry and brings together the Order of the Phoenix, a secret society formed to fight and kill Lord Voldemort.

Many things are happening in Harrys fifth year at Hogwarts, he has his much awaited O.W.L. exams, Lord Voldemort is rumored to have returned and the Ministry of Magic is going crazy and is taking keen interest in the working of Hogwarts. The movie begins with Harry and his cousin Dudley being attacked by Dementors, Harry manages to save the day with his Patronus charm, but that lands him in trouble with the Ministry of Magic. Meanwhile, Dumbledore is secretly re-grouping the members of the Order of the Phoenix, whove sworn to protect Harry and kill Lord Voldemort.

While Dumbledore is planning with the Order of the Phoenix, Harry, Ron and Hermione are eager to learn more about this secret group. They soon get involved as they are brought to the secret hideout of the group, the House of the Black which is Sirus Blacks house, and meet the house elf Kreacher. Harry also gets to meet all the members of the Order of the Phoenix including one who he doesnt completely trust or like.

A lot of die-hard fans were disappointed at the number of omissions especially the lack of any Quidditch games, but one has to realize that 870 pages cannot be fitted into any movie. On the positive side the director added a few of his personal touches which were not in the book such as Dolores punishing the students and making them write with blood ink quills.

Director David Yates manages to use special effects extremely well and pleases all with the creation of the Thestrals. In addition, the casting for the role of Umbridge and Bellatrix was perfect. Many critics say that this was by far the best of the series, so far.
