After the success of the first Harry Potter movie, it came as no surprise when Chris Columbus was given the responsibility to direct the second movie. He’s made the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets movie a lot darker compared to the first one.

The movie has seen success all over the globe and one of the many reasons is good casting. One of my favorite characters in the movie was that of Lockhart, played by Kenneth Branagh. He comes across as a man full of himself but is also extremely funny and adds a good amount of humor to the movie. Another fine performance in the movie is by the evil and prejudiced Lucius Malfoy, played by Jason Isaacs.

The director manages to stick to the book for most of the story and this was a great relief for all JK Rowling fans, also there are some breathtaking visuals that have been really well presented in the movie. The sets that have been made for the movie transport you into fantasy land and make you feel like you are actually there. The visuals, along with extremely realistic sets are complimented by some really first class acting by the young stars.

Though the director Chris Columbus follows the book meticulously, he makes sure to add his personal touch by providing some really amazing visuals and sets. Apart, from the visuals and sets the movie’s main success comes from its child stars. They show a lot of maturity and improvement from their first movie and put forth an excellent performance.

Though the movie was a big success, one character that played a big role in the success of the first and second movie passed away before the movie’s premiere. Actor Richard Harris, who played the role of the Hogwarts Headmaster Dumbledore, is no longer with us and his, is a tragic loss for Harry Potter fans around the world, as he was best suited for this crucial role. It won’t be easy for a new actor to take up this role as the expectations will be very high.
