Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie, was released in 2005. It is written by J. K. Rowling, a popular British author and is the sixth in the seven book series. Harry’s sixth successful year at Hogwarts, the past of Lord Voldemort and Harry’s preparation for the final encounter with Lord Voldemort and his internal emotional conflicts and confusions are depicted in this movie. There is a bit of romance too.

Three best friends, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) study in the same school, Hogwarts. The school’s headmaster, Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon), has assigned Harry a secret task after he accompanies the headmaster on his journey to bribe a retired teacher to rejoin Hogwarts. Dumbledore’s intends to prepare Harry for his final battle with Voldemort, Harry is diverted because he suspects that new dangers are lurking in the castle.

Horace Slughorn ( Jim Broadbent ), the former professor of portions, is the only one who knows Voldemort’s critical defences information because he had interviewed and taught Tom Riddle when he was sixteen years old. Dumbledore wants Harry to be the one to unlock this vital key while studying under Horace as he believes the information will prove to be vital. Though Professor Horace Slughorn is an old colleague of Dumbledore, he tries to manipulate him in to returning to his previous post by offering him more money and Harry Potter as his pupil.

Thus, Harry, Ron and Hermione end up in the same portions class. Since Harry did not have a portons book, he gi given one by Horace to refer to for instructions. This book used to belong to the Half Blood Prince. It is through this book that Harry gains new insights to portions and becomes popular in class. Harry starts to receive private tuitions from Dumbledore. He gives Harry access to Voldemort’s past, using his Pensieve memories. This will help him in his final battle.

The school’s other students are left to face a different kind of threat. The battle of the hormones! Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright) and Harry realize that their friendship runs a lot deeper. But Ginny’s boyfriend and Ron somehow start getting in their way, making Harry check his attraction levels. Ron gets romantically involved with Lavender Brown (Jessie Cave) to prove that he is no novice in the game of love, leaving Hermione green with jealousy which she tries hard to conceal.

Somehow, a box of love portion chocolates finds its way in to the wrong hands, infecting everyone with the disease love. Only one student is unaffected by the romance. He has only one intention on his mind and that too a dark one. Tragedy looms just round the corner at Hogwarts, once it strikes, nothing will remain the same.
