Fixing a Frozen XBOX 360

'font-style:italic;' class='tvbyline'>by Daniel Thompson

Through their Windows system for computers Microsoft is known around the world. But they have always run into problems such as bugs in the system and also freezing. Even the Xbox gaming consoles they launched had freezing problems in a number of the systems. Everyone waited in anticipation for Microsoft to release the Xbox 360 four years ago, however it, too, has experienced the same freezing problems.

It does no matter which configuration is purchased because the owners of the Xbox 360 are still confronted with freezing. To attempt to alleviate this problem Microsoft released a revised version including a new motherboard. This has helped when it comes to the problems of overheating and noise but it has done nothing to rectify the ongoing problem of freezing.

Unlike the freezes that you experience in Windows operating systems, Microsoft isn’t really to blame for these inconvenient issues. The main cause of these freezes is purely hardware related and heat is the main culprit. The XBOX 360 is small in size, yet houses many powerful components that get hot really quick if gaming time is extended.

Attempting to keep the console cool will effectively prevent overheating and so eliminate freezing altogether. Using it in an area where there is good airflow would help to keep it cool, as would placing it in an air-conditioned room. As long as it is kept cool overheating will be kept at bay.

If you still experience occasional freezing, the problem may be a bit deeper and down to the hardware components already damaged. This can be noted if you witness 3 red light errors. While this is usually a serious problem, no need to panic because there are methods that you can do on your own to fix these problems. If you are not willing to fix it yourself, you can take it to a shop that repairs XBOX 360’s or to Microsoft, but prepare to shell out at least $100-$150 to pay the repair fee.

Although this saves you the effort and ensures the best reliability, time and money isn’t saved if you decide to take that option. There are also plenty of XBOX 360 repair manuals that come in the form of eBooks that guide non-technical users through a step-by-step procedure.

Whereas professional repairs can take days you will be able to repair the problem yourself in a matter of hours. You will be able to purchase the e-book or even find free alternatives if you take the time to visit certain forums and Xbox 360 communities online. Of course, the one way to avoid all of this is to keep the console cool.

If your XBOX 360 has no records of freezing, your console may experience them in the future if you don’t exercise good preventative measures. Either limit your playing time per session or play in a room that won’t cause the XBOX 360 to overheat. Exercising this habit should prevent all freezing problems eliminating the need to fix it ever again.
