Watchmen directed by Zack Snyder is set in alternative 1985 - a time in which the world is nearing a nuclear war. There is also a plot to eliminate a group of ex-crime fighters. But the question arises - why? Two of the ex-crime fighters take it upon themselves to find out the cause and do the remedial action. After 300 Zack seems to have another winner in hand. The visuals are simply great and he has successfully adapted the book into the film without any hitch.

The fighters now re-unite to prevent any further damage and in the process discover a far more demonic plot. For the next 160 minutes you will witness full blown action and the viewers are slowly introduced to the characters such as the Minutemen. The audience will never find it difficult to follow the story as the progress of the movie is quite simple.

Patrick Wilson as Dan Dreiber is perhaps the best of the lot although Malin Akerman as Silk Spectre II will impress you too. The costumes they wear too match the mood of the film. The smaller characters too have been given due importance and the audience will have no difficulty in recognizing them as the film progresses.

The fight scenes in the film are much longer than what is depicted in the book but they are not drab or dull and do not seem to be out of context. Because of the amount of violence the film has got a rating of 18+ in UK. There is frontal nudity in the film too so the mature certificate is definitely justified.

The main strongpoint of the movie is the special effects. Dr. Manhattan looks awesome and Rorschach’s mask is fun to look at throughout. The soundtrack seems to be apt for the movie though I doubt whether it has a recall factor. Overall the movie is pretty impressive and going by the box office records should create a record of sorts.

Watchmen has become very popular among the audience and it will be a crime to miss this one. All the reviews are singing praise for Zack Snyder for bringing out such a masterpiece after 300.
