People have wide entertainment options these days and these options are increasing day by day. Though internet has been popular but still many people turn to television and movies for there daily dose of entertainment. As a result many new television shows have flourished and many have been successful too and the same can be said about movies as well. These shows provide different themes and they target specific audiences.

Castle is a very popular American television series whose genre is crime, drama and mystery along with some comedy as well. The show is produced by ABC Studios and was created by Andrew.W. Marlowe. The show premiered in July 2009 and was broadcast on ABC. The series is basically about two partners who try to solve the various crime mysteries while also dealing with the mystery of their own relationship.

Stana Katic plays the role of a detective Kate Beckett who is involved in solving various crimes. Nathan Fillion is in the role of Richard Castle who is a mystery novelist and due to certain circumstances meets Beckett and starts following her as she investigates cases because in her he sees the character for his next novel. Beckett though does not like this idea and does not approve of his following but slowly she realizes that Castle was proving out to be a very good help for solving crimes and therefore allows him to follow. But the following has its own share of comedy, drama and romance and thus makes up for some good entertainment.

Kate Beckett is a detective who is involved in solving crimes and has been played by Stana Katic while in the role of mystery novelist Richard Castle we have Nathan Fillion and under certain circumstances both of them meet after which Castle starts following Kate because he wants to use her as a character for his next novel but Kate is initially against it but after seeing that Castle is helping her solve the various cases she allows him. This following brings with it its own share of comedy, drama and romance thus providing good entertainment.

Castle’s popularity has increased as it has been broadcasted in other countries as well by leading broadcasters. In Australia, it was broadcasted by AXN and the season 1 premiered on March 17, 2009 while season 2 premiered on October 18, 2009. In India Season 1 premiered on May 3, 2010 and season 2 premiered on May 19, 2010, both being broadcasted on Star World. Other countries where the show has been broadcast includes Germany, Greece, Finland, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Switzerland and United Kingdom.

The show has been nominated for Outstanding composition for a series at the 2009 Emmy awards, for best actor as well as best actress in a series at the satellite awards inn 2009 and best sound editing- short form music in television for golden reel award in 2010. Castle did not won any of the awards but being nominated for the awards was no small achievement in itself.

The season 1 DVD of Castle was released in the US on September 22, 2009 and in Germany on May 6, 2010. The Season 2 DVD of the show would most probably be released in the later part of September.
