Lots of people are talking about how super models aren’t so big anymore, that they don’t really exist like they once did, and that a lot of figures from the world of fitness are coming in to take over. Is this really happening?

Pro Reason 1 — Celebrities, Not Supermodels

For some reason, back around the late 1990s, celebrities started being the ones sporting all the latest fashion and being seen often in it. They set the tone, they’re the ones who make a new designer famous, and now they’re appearing on the front covers of the fashion magazines. And celebrities don’t have to adhere to prevailing trends in the fashion industry as much.

Now that the internet is so wide-spread, it’s easy to get a plethora of information on any model. Amateur models coming out of nowhere don’t take as long to be discovered anymore, and thus it’s harder for the industry to really ‘make’ a super model like they could in the past. As a result, these new fitness models are really taking off.

For a really large majority of men, any visible muscle — even if it’s leaned muscle and not ‘bulky’ muscle, is too much. When they watch models videos online, they aren’t searching for babes with a lot of strength — it’s strictly the 20th-century definition of female beauty right here.

Why Not, Number 2: It’s Rare to See A Fitness Model Make it Huge

Fashion models and supermodels are established industries. And fitness and diet books and products are also huge, established industries. But “fitness models” coming out of that world in order to take over the other? Or super models suddenly becoming ultra-fit and strong? Nope, not gonna happen.
