One of the many juried craft shows out there, the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival is one event that I personally like helping to organize. Each year, we receive more than six hundred applicants who aspire for a spot in the festival. Along with one slide of their area, these aspiring stars are required to submit three slides of their best pieces.

Our qualified jurors are shown every artist’s slides, once all are in, and they view all of them without knowing the name of the submitting artist. The jury will then choose the 200 lucky artisans who will be allowed to showcase their works in the exhibit proper. There are various awards, such as Best of Show, Awards of Distinction, Excellence, Merit, and Honor. So people will get to see familiar faces, the winners of the juried show the year before will get to showcase without going through the jurying process.

There are a lot of categories in which aspiring artisans can compete. Ceramics, drawing, fiber, leather, glass, jewelry, mixed media, oil paintings, photography, graphics design, sculpture, watercolor, and woodworking are some of the fields wherein they get to choose. The collective total of the price given away can reach $25,000.

It is my great pleasure to announce that the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival is one of the top fifty Fine Arts Shows that are held in the United States, according to Sunshine Artist Magazine.
