It’s every teenager’s movie, loads of awesome music and absolutely enthralling screenplay, and to keep it going for three parts is an exceptional feat. The first movie in the franchise came out in 2006 and earned accolades for its youthful storyline. They didn’t need to sell high school musical Tix, it was a success without them; the film was viewed by 225 million people worldwide and won the Emmy award. The movies feature Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens as central characters who go about their extremely musical high school days facing unprecedented conflicts. High school musical 2 was released in 2007, and this much awaited sequel got an even greater reception. High school musical 3: senior year made it 3 hits in a row for Disney.

Sharpay and Ryan Evans play obnoxious teenagers who’d go to any lengths to get the lead roles in the winter musical, and they seem set to get it until an unlikely couple in Troy and Gabriella enter the fray. The movie opened to 7.7 million viewers. The movie was a hit without selling high school musical tickets.

The second act

In this movie Troy (Efron) is seen to be worried about his future and the upcoming expenses and decides to find a summer job for himself. The core cast remains the same and Sharpay returns. She arranges for him to get a job in her parent’s club in order to be close to him. The movie opened to’ million viewers on its premier.

In the backdrop is Troy and Gabriella’s budding romance, and he manages to convince the club’s manager to employ his friends as well. Sharpay’s efforts to woo Troy, distances him from his friends, and he has a hard job to draw them back. Midsummer’s night musical approaches in the movie’s climax, and Troy has to decide upon a few things before that. 33 million people watched the movie on its first weekend.

The third act: TV screens to Movie Theatres

The school is about to end and everyone is worried about going to college. For Troy and Gabrielle, trying to work out keeping close after passing out is another task. The first theatre release of the franchise meant that for the first time people needed to buy high school musical Tix to watch it.

There is news about a team from Julliard attending the spring musical to access the musical talent in the school. Frenzy builds up as everyone tries everything in their power to get the elusive scholarship. High school musical tickets sales boosted the movie towards earning $42 million on its opening weekend.
